Joypaw noticed that Stormheart had left her. She saw her talking to Whitepaw, and even caught a few words, "Or at least I want to join..." Stormheart was joining DeathClan? She was so intent on the conversation that she didn't notice Skyshadow watching the two cats as well. As Stormheart and Whitepaw padded away, Joypaw whispered to herself, "Farewell, Stormheart. I'll miss you." Then Joypaw had an idea. She slipped toward Whitepaw and Stormheart, covering herself in DeathClan scent. "Yuck!" she murmured so softly, she barely heard herself. Joypaw followed Stormheart and Whitepaw, horrified. "No..." she whispered.

Shattergaze watched as her apprentice led a SoulCat into camp, heading to Darkstar's den. Her icy eyes narrowed. What is this? She got to her paws and slinked over to the pair, eyeing them. There wasn't a mark on either of them. They didn't fight? A growl grew in her throat. They better have a good explanation for this. Shattergaze went up and addressed Whitepaw, voice stern and on the verge of anger. "Why is this SoulCat here? And why has she come without a mark on her?" Something wasn't right with the pair of them.

"We need to speak with Darkstar." She replied, her eyes narrowed. "I suppose since you're the deputy you'd want to know so we might as well explain." Whitepaw shot a glance at Stormheart that said: Do we say you just wanted to join or? When getting no response, she turned back towards the two older cats.

"So uh..." Whitepaw started. "I was uh, near the border and Stormheart was there.....she.....she said she wanted to join DeathClan and told me she didn't want to fight so I took her back here and I don't know if she's lying or not but..."

Shattergaze looked at Stormheart. So Stormheart wants to join DeathClan? This is news...if it's true, that is. They could just be trying to infiltrate out camp... She turned back to Whitepaw. "But you didn't attack Stormheart on sight? I hope you didn't bring her here for any...sentimental reasons." Her eyes flashed. She had heard about Whitepaw and Stormheart's friendship when they had both been in DeathClan. "Friendships with SoulCats will make you weak." But then her face relaxed. "However, if Stormheart truly wants to join us, and Darkstar allows it, then we have you to thank for adding a warrior to our ranks." Her eyes shot to Stormheart, and a grin twisted across her face. "But we'll have to test you first."

"I have no friendship with her." Whitepaw said coldly and believably. "No I didn't attack her, she came on her own accord, and what's her test?"

She'd better be telling the truth. But Shattergaze's smile got wider. "Well, I'll have to sort out the details with Darkstar, but Stormheart here will have to attack and kill one of her former Clanmates." Once she does that, they will never take her back. She'll have to choice but to join us.

Whitepaw nodded slowly. Stormheart would never kill them, she'd never kill any SoulCat. Why hadn't they thought of that?

Shattergaze didn't like the hesitation she saw in Whitepaw's face, and her eyes narrowed. "DeathClan cats kill SoulClan cats. That is what we do, what we must do. Since Stormheart wants to join, I assume there is no problem with that test." She looked Whitepaw straight in the eye. "After all, past friendships with SoulCats should mean nothing to her if she wants to be in DeathClan." Well. If Stormheart doesn't kill a SoulCat, then she isn't part of our Clan. And if she isn't part of our Clan, then she is the enemy. And we will kill her like any other.

"I have no past friendships that still live with any SoulCat." Whitepaw retorted. Though she still hesitated. If DeathClan figured out, they would kill her too.

Shattergaze met Whitepaw's eyes. "Of course you don't." She said, but with her eyes she told a different message. That she knew Whitepaw wasn't telling the whole truth. "And I assume the same applies for Stormheart."

Whitwpaw said nothing. She knew Shattergaze was close to figuring it out. With her eyes giving away the uneasy and fear feelings, and the way she and Storm hadn't even fought, shouted out everything. "It does." She finally murmured. "When will she take the test?"

"As soon as Darkstar and I decide on the cat she will kill. The sooner the better, after all. But first I need to talk to Darkstar." She stood up and padded into the den, but took a look back at her apprentice. Watch yourself.

Whitepaw turned away. Her stomach was flipping over and she felt dazed. What would Shattergaze do about it? What would she tell Darkstar? Would I get chased out?

Shattergaze stepped into the den and waited for Darkstar. It was so foolish of Whitepaw to let her past emotions take her over...we'll have to do something about her. Soon.

Whitepaw waited near the entrance of the den, but hidden away. Straining to hear their conversation, she kept shifting making more noise then before, which made her cringe.

Stormheart watched as Shattergaze went inside. I have to kill someone to get in? She thought. She couldn't imagine herself killing any of her old friends.
