Spottedsun stepped into the gloom of her leader's den, -but it wasn't only gloomy from the shadows. "Whisperstar? Are you there? I need to speak with you..." she mewed softly. "I-I wanted to make sure you're alright..."

Whisperstar opened her eyes to look into her old friend's eyes. Spottedsun would be the one to come and comfort her. That was just the way she was. Whisperstar felt a rush of affection and gratitude toward Spottedsun, but when she spoke, her voice was raw with grief. "Why? Why do they all keep dying? Why can't DeathClan just leave us in peace?" Her voice cracked on the last word and her eyes stared unseeing into the wall of her den.

Juniper watched from the shadows,as she had always done.Lately,she noticed how deeply spooked whisperstar had been.While observing both clans,she had noticed rivalry and forbidden happenings."I have to say,I don't envy these cats"She muttered to herself.

Spottedsun extended her paw, now only a couple of mouse-lengths away from Whisperstar. "Because they have nothing better to do; it's the will of StarClan whether or not DeathClan is finally defeated." She hoped her words were more comforting than they sounded.

(Oh yeah I remembered that! That was horrible! Bluestar was being all sensitive, blaming StarClan and all)
Joypaw called, "Whisperstar?" Joypaw was worried about her after... Joypaw didn't allow herself think about it.

Whisperstar sighed. She shook her head and rose to her paws. She purred and touched noses with Spottedsun. "Thanks. I'll be fine." Then she padded to the entrance of her den and flicked her tail. "Yes, Joypaw?"

Joypaw watched Spottedsun leave, and understood that the gray warrior had tried to comfort Whisperstar, exactly what Joypaw wanted to do. "Whisperstar, will you be okay? I know Spottedsun just tried to help, but I don't want for you to be too upset..."

Whisperstar smiled. She was acting like a kit, with her own Clan trying to comfort her. How silly. She flicked her ear at Joypaw. "I appreciate your concern, Joypaw. However, there are many things that need to be done to make sure the Clan is strong again. Starting with the new deputy..." She trailed off. She had no idea who to choose.

Spottedsun nodded slowly while padding out of the den. She was proud of Joypaw for being the kind, compassionent she-cat, and knew some day she'd grow up to be a wonderful warrior. Pride swelled in her heart but was immediately darkened after she glanced back at Whisperstar. Turning her head, her eyes landed on Fallenleaf. "He needs to be buried," she murmered.

Whisperstar glanced up at the sky. It was almost moonhigh, she would have to make a decision soon. Then she turned back to Spottedsun. "Go see Sandheart, and have your wounds looked after. Fallenleaf will be buried at dawn, like always."
