Whisperstar stared in horror. "Stormheart has joined DeathClan? And killed?" She staggered a few steps back. "My own apprentice has betrayed our Clan," she murmured. She turned back to Mapleleaf, her mind on overload. Maybe if she didn't think about it anymore, the problems would just go away. Not likely. "Bring back Heartkit's body. She will be buried with Fallenleaf. And Joypaw is alive, you say?"

"Stormheart killed her, but I think she got reincarnated. Heartkit's body..... Well, it was kind of in shreds," she said. "And I don't believe it either. Stormheart seemed so loyal, and she hates DeathClan. Something's not right."

Whisperstar bowed her head. "Then we will have a memorial for her. Her spirit will be laid to rest when Fallenleaf is buried. And she will be revenged." Whisperstar's voice turned cold. "If Stormheart has betrayed SoulClan, then she will find no mercy here."

Spottedsun padded slowly back, her tail dragging in the dust. As much as this news sounded exciting, she didn't feel that Whisperstar would be fully happy. She took a deep breath and stepped into the den, eyes on the floor. She noticed three other sets of paws and saw Mapleleaf, a new SoulClan cat, some kitty-pet, and another new SoulClan warrior. "G-greetings," she mewed to the warriors. Turning to the kitty-pet, she hissed, wincing with the effort, "What are you doing here? How'd you get into camp?" It killed her insides doing that, and she nearly dragged herself back over to Whisperstar near the back. "I need to speak to you-alone. It's urgent." She glanced at Bluestripe, Mapleleaf, and the kitty-pet known as Saidie.

Whisperstar nodded to Saidie. "Of course you can join. You are welcome here." Her heart spiked in alarm when Spottedsun staggered in. She leapt to her paws. "Spotty! What's wrong? Are you okay?" When Spottedsun made her request, Whisperstar nodded. She turned to the three cats. "We will continue this discussion later. You may go." Then she made Spottedsun lie down in her nest and licked her ear fretfully. "What's going on, Spotty? Are you sick?"

She bit her lip, sorting out how she was to put this. "I-I wanted to tell you this because you're my best friend and all...." She started. "But please don't be angry... I'm pregnant with kits, but the tom... well... he isn't in this Clan.. or any Clan, for that matter..." Spottedsun stared at the floor in embarrassment.

Goldenpaw had heard Spottedsun and Whisperstar talking when Mapleleaf came in and broke the news about Stormheart. In the center of camp, Goldenpaw dropped onto her stomach, reeling in disbelief. No...this can't be true. Stormheart was my friend, she would never join DeathClan! She hated them, wanted to kill them...how could she turn her back on us and join them? Tears welled in her eyes. And she killed Joypaw, and an innocent kit? Why... Then her eyes hardened. She is the enemy now.

saidie's heart sank. She had to kill cats if nessesary. This was her family now and she would protect Soulclan with her life.
