Whisperstar smiled down at Shimmerkit. This ceremony was long overdue. "I, Whisperstar, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. She has chosen to follow the path of a warrior and so today becomes an apprentice. Shimmerkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Shimmerpaw. Dogfang will be your mentor."
"Shimmerpaw! Shimmerpaw! Shimmerpaw!"

Joysong smiled up at her Clan leader Whisperstar, and Spottedsun's daughter Shimmerkit- no, Shimmerpaw now. The ceremony was long, long overdue, since Shimmerpaw's sister Flamepaw had been an apprentice for about a quarter moon now. Or was it half? The young warrior didn't remember. Oh well, now Shimmerpaw was an apprentice, and well... Joysong guessed Dogfang could be a good mentor- no cat could deny he was a skilled warrior, even though he had much too much self-respect, and could be quite rude and hid his true personality well from Whisperstar, though Joysong didn't want to think about how she was one of the deputy's most hated cats, ever since she was an apprentice. Pushing these bristling thoughts away, she joined in the chanting eagerly, her brief annoyance at the memories of Dogfang forgotten in warm happiness.
"Shimmerpaw! Shimmerpaw! Shimmerpaw!"

Dogfang strutted up to Whisperstar and Shimmerpaw, his head held high, his long tail pointing long and straight with pride. He seemed in his little bubble for that moment, carressing the spotlight even though it was mostly on his new apprentice. New apprentice? The idea spooked him. That meant training her would take time away from his loyalty to DeathClan...and...there was a chance that she could see all of his trickery and devious plotting. Would he may have to kill her one day? Maybe... He'd only see.
Dogfang didn't know what to expect of Shimmerpaw. He didn't see the challenging, spunky, true SoulClan glint he always saw in Flamepaw's eyes, or the darker, more taunting glimmer in Tanglekit's eyes in Shimmerpaw's eyes. Tanglekit would've probably been a better apprentice for him, but this kit--no, this apprentice, Shimmerpaw, would have to do. Her eyes shined all the time, but he could always detect the compassion and loyalty she had to her sisters. Bah! Compassion was a piece of fox-dung. He'd have to get rid of that. But loyalty? That'd be..that'd be..very useful..--for battles, of course. His eyes twisted this way and that, burning with more pride, but a mysterious, harsher glow was behind that at the same time. If she had more loyalty than any other cat, she'd be useful in many ways...He might even be able to tell her his dark secret about DeathClan and Whisperstar one day...But would she hide it forever? That was the most important thing.
Nodding to Whisperstar, he pressed his muzzle to Shimmerpaw's forehead. Ew, she still stunk of Spottedsun and the nursery. He'd have to also rid her of the poison in her head: the rights and wrongs her mother taught her. There was no mercy in hunting or battling--she'd have to learn that first. Ugh.
Spottedsun smiled, close to the front, for her daughter. This was her second daughter that was apprenticed, and it was scary. Soon all of them would be warriors... She cheered--though her throat was tight with anxiety-- for the new apprentice, shouting, "Shimmerpaw! Shimmerpaw!" with the rest of the Clan. She'd have to watch Dogfang. Flamepaw was fine with Goldenshard, but Dogfang looked like he had something up his sleeve, though she wasn't so sure. Maybe her eyes were only tricking her...

Goldenshard smiled as the eager kit accepted her apprenticeship. Shimmerkit deserved this ceremony, it must have been furstrating to watch you sister train as an apprentice before you! Flamepaw was a great apprentice, and perhaps they would be able to train with her sister. As the kit received her new name, Goldenshard grinned and chanted the kit's new name. "Shimmerpaw, Shimmerpaw, Shimmerpaw!"

Tanglekit stomped her foot angrily. When would she get her warrior name? She hissed in frustraition and pinned her ears back. She tore at the ground beneath her, getting herself all worked up. Tanglekit looked up sadly at the high-rock (Or whatever it is)in envy. She hoped that one day she would stand up there and call a clan meeting. Tanglestar, Leader of Soulclan. He thought quickly diminished. At this rate, she would be a warrior when she was ready to move into the elders den.

Windrunner hides her disappointment and worry well. She didn't trust a hair on Dogfang's pelt, but that was most likely from when she and the deputy and nearly gotten into a fight when she had first joined SoulClan, and she would never forget that. I know I could have trained Shimmerpaw much better... she thinks, but she was more worried for her. What if Dogfang got tired of her, or if she found out any thing that the deputy may have planed? She wouldent put anything past him. But then again.... he may be just a little bossy and power hungry.... But Windrunner doubts it, there was just something so sinister about her deputy.... She sighs, pushing the emotions from her head. "Shimmerpaw, Shimmerpaw, Shimmerpaw!" She calls, joining the chant while her claws dig into the soft ground under her. This sucked, for lack of better words.
