Whisperwind looked around the camp, excitement thrilling through her blood as she leaps up onto the Highrock. The camp looks so different from the unfamiliar height, and she takes a deep breath to calm herself. This was an important day for Goldenkit, and her mentor, but also for Whisperwind. She may not be leader, but this was the first ceremony that she was privelaged to hold. It was so exciting! Whisperwind cleared her throat and called loudly, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

He looks up at Highrock when he hears Whisperwind's summons. He scampers across the camp and sits in the clearing. He notices Whisperwind trying unsuccessfully to hide her excitement in an attempt to look professional. He winks at her and then settles down to wait for the rest of the Clan.

Whisperwind waits while the Clan gathers, and she grins when Thornclaw winks at her. I'm not fooling anyone, she realizes. And then she shrugs. Oh well.. She keeps her eye on the nursery, waiting for Goldenkit to emerge. This was indeed a special day.

Goldenkit bounced up to the Highrock, looking around. She saw that it was Whisper, and not Flame, who was atop the rock, and she was obviously brimming with excitement. Goldenkit cocked her head. I wonder what's going on? She took her place underneath the Highrock and waited.

Whisperwind smiled when Goldenkit appeared. The kit obviously had no idea what was going to happen next. With most of the Clan gathered, Whisperwind cleared her throat and began. "Goldenkit, please step forward. You are now six moons and ready to become an apprentice."

Her eyes went wide. REALLY wide. "Holy. Crap." She whispered. Then the spell was broken and she leapt to her feet, bounding up to the Highrock. Her fur was on end, excitement thrilling through her. Yes!

Whisperwind had to laugh. Goldenkit would make a very loyal warrior one day. She leaped down from the Highrock and raised her voice so that it echoed loud and clear across the camp.
"I, Whisperwind, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. She has chosen to follow the path of a warrior of SoulClan, and so today becomes an apprentice. Goldenkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Goldenpaw." Whisperwind casts her gaze around until she sees the cat she's looking for.
"Spottedsun, you have proven to be a warrior of strong faith, fierce loyalty, and exceptional bravery. I expect you to pass on all you know to this young apprentice."

Goldenpaw raised her head, the name resounding proudly in her ears. She looked over proudly at her mentor, and grinned. She was so lucky! Things were going to be much more exciting now that she was an apprentice.

"I will," Spottedsun smiled broadly at her new apprentice. She touched noses to Goldenpaw, and whispered in her ear, "Congrats!" Looking back up at one of her closest freinds, she dipped her head to Whisperwind, smiling, and mewed to her softly, "You did a wonderful job." Glancing at the bright and cheerful Goldenpaw, she added, "Goldenpaw will be a wonderful apprentice."

Goldenpaw touched noses with her new mentor, eyes shining. "You bet I will! I'm going to be the best warrior there ever was, you'll see! I'll train SO hard!" She looked around, tail up, excited. "When can we start?"

She nodded to her, grinning, and mewed, "Of course you will." Glancing at the stars in the sky, Spottedsun looked back at Goldenpaw. "We'll start tomorrow, but that of course starts with a good night's sleep. If you're hungry, get something to eat, and I'll see you tomorrow. Oh, and don't worry, I'll wake you up."

Whisperwind watches happily as two of her best friends touch noses. Spottedsun will do a fantastic job, she thought approvingly. She nodded in thanks at her friend's comment, and then joined the Clan in calling out the new apprentice's name. "Goldenpaw! Goldenpaw! Goldenpaw!"

As the chant of her new name swirled wonderfully around her head, Goldenpaw nodded. "Ok, tomorrow!" Then she grinned. "And now I can sleep in the apprentices den!!" Her stomach growled. "But I am going to have to get something to eat first!"
