*Nods carefully and lowers herself onto the ground, her tail up**Glances up at Whisperwind* How's that?

Not bad, for a first try! *she grins swiftly* But don't keep your tail too high, otherwise the mouse will see it waving like a flag! Try moving forward a couple of steps, and keep all of your weight on your haunches, so your paws barely make an impact

*Nods and tries again, crouching onto the ground, making sure to remember to keep her tail low and lowering some of her weight onto her haunches**Glances up* Is this good?

*purrs* Well done! That's great...now what do you think you change when stalking a rabbit?

Almost. *she flicks her tail, pointing toward the bushes* Mice can feel the vibrations of your pawsteps through the ground, that's why you want to feel like you're floating when you stalk them. A rabbit's ears are really sensitive, because they're so big. So they can hear much better than a mouse. A rabbit will hear your fur brushing the leaves of bushes, so you want to be much lower in your crouch. *she grins* Ever heard the old elders say "mouse feels you, rabbit hears you"?

*Shakes her head* Never heard that saying, but I did once hear a saying, something about rabbit crouch, mouse crouch. *Shrugs and giggles softly*

*nods* Okay, that's fine. But you should remember it, it will help when you're hunting on your own. Show me what you think stalking a rabbit should look like.

*Crouches down lower than she had before, making sure to keep her tail low but not so low it brushes the ground**Stalks up a couple of paces, trying to make sure her paws don't hit the ground as hard as before*

*falls smoothly into her best hunting crouch for a rabbit and stalks toward Dawnpaw* that is very good. see how my ears are constantly swiveling? you always need to know everything that's going on around you. that way you're never caught by surprise.

*Nods and swivels her own ears, trying to be like Whisperwind* Got it! *Purrs*
