Joykit padded around in the nursery. She batted at a ball of moss, pushing it around and sometimes flicking it in the air. She flicked in the air once, batted at it with her paw, then sat down and sighed softly. She couldn't wait to be apprenticed, and to venture into the forest providing and defending her Clan. Although her mother wasn't Clanborn and her father was unknown, she thought, nothing would stop her from becoming a great warrior. Joykit got up, and began playing with the moss again. She looked around, hoping someone would come in.

Spottedsun had just returned from a hunting patrol. She heard movement in the Nursery and padded over the entrance. Peeking in, she spotted Joykit. "Hey, Joykit! What have you been up to? No trouble, I hope." Her eyes glimmered happily at her little friend.

Joykit slightly jumped at her friend's unexpected voice. She turned around. "Hey, Spottedsun! I've been bored lately, just playing around with this thing." She pushed the ball of moss slightly in Spottedsun's direction. Her eyes shone with mischief as she remembered her comment. "No trouble now, but don't get your hopes up!" Joykit smiled mischeiveously.

"Hm," she smirked, her eyes glimmering. She hooked the moss ball in her claw, and smiled at Joykit. "Do you want to play ball?"

Joykit smiled. She knew Spottedsun was trying to give her something to do. Her smile grew wider as she thought of something. "No thank you, I think I'll go find something I shouldn't be doing." She padded behind Spottedsun two pawsteps into the camp, then turned around and went back into the nursery. "Don't worry, Spotty," she purred, "I'm not going anywhere. Let's play ball. Joykit swatted the moss toward Spottedsun.

Spottedsun watched her for a moment, her eyes gradualy turning into a humorous glare at Joykit's words. She leapt up and caught it in her mouth before launching it yet again at Joykit. "Don't be acting up before your apprentice ceremony," she teased the kit. "Whisperstar will cancel it."

Joykit caught the moss, and then dropped it at Spottedsun's words, her eyes huge. "I'm becoming an apprentice? YIPEE!!" She nearly started bouncing of the walls, then stood still. She took a huge breath. "Spottedsun, do you think I'm ready?" she asked.

Spottedsun smiled at the kit's reaction. She thought for a moment, then mewed, "Of course, Joykit. I see a lot of purpose and chance in you." She winked at the grinning ginger kit.

"Thanks, Spottedsun." Joykit smiled at the wisdom in the grayish she-cat warrior. "I wish Willowispersong was here. I can't believe she's missing this." Joykit looked down at her paws. "Well, I'm glad you're here at least", she said, brightening.

Spottedsun's ears pricked at the name of Joykit's mother. "Your welcome." She smiled back. "Do you miss her?" She touched her nose to the she-kit's ear. "It's okay if you do..." she whispered.

Joypaw thought she saw kits in the nursery, and peeked in. "Hey Skykit!"
