Poppy padded through the undergrowth trying to pick up a scent. She was having trouble focusing on prey with all these thoughts running through her mind as usual. There were so many new things around her and all of them puzzeled her. But what puzzeled her most was the strange cats that lived not to far away. All the thoughts left her as she picked up the scent of mouse. She saw the brown ball of fur standing in the perfect postion for her to strike. She padded closer as silent as a snowy night....

Just as she was about to pounce on her prey her hind paw snapped a twig. The mouse lifted it's head and scurried away. '' Mouse dung! '' She kept walking her ears pricked for the smallest sound of prey. Her ears swerved at the sound of a squirrel. She followed the musy leaf scent of the squirrel until she was barley a tail length away from it. She moved closer, one paw step at a time careful not to give away her postion this time... She punced at her unsuspecting prey.

The squirrel scampered up a tree at the untimely arival of Juniper. '' Juniper! I almost had that! You big fur ball! '' She said to her sister.

'' Get off you mouse brain! '' Poppy said jokingly to her sister. Maybe her sister could distract her from her puzzeling thoughts. Or did she share the same thoughts? Poppy wondered.

Poppy kicked Juniper off with her hind legs playfully. '' Come on bettle brain! You will scare all the prey away stomping around like a badger like that! '' Poppy padded off in search of more prey. Juniper scared all the prey away I bet! I will still catch more prey though! Poppy thougt to herself deciding it was a hunting competition, even if Juniper didn't know it was.

Poppy kept walking on as her sister went back to their brothers. '' She is a great hunter.... If only she had the attentionspan! '' Poppy joked to herself. It was starting to turn dark. She hadn't relized how long she had been out. Poppy lashed her tail in frustration. '' Out so long but not even a scrap of prey! '' I will still prove myself to Thorn, Shadow and Juniper. They will be so surprised when I come back with the fatest rabbit they have ever seen! Poppy thought to herself determened to bring back a meal.

She stopped and scented the area. Rabbit! The scent was fresh and her paws tingled. She padded towards to scent so silent that she could hear a leaf drop. Setting each paw down one at a time until she was less than a tail length away. As she punced the rabbit heard her and ran away into the undergrowth. '' Mouse dung! '' She muttered under her breath. She looked up at the sky to find that the moon was out with it's stars and the night sky. She padded back to her make shift den with her siblings crest fallen and angry with herself for catching the tiniest piece of prey.
