Silverkit had made it out of the small den and had swiftly found her way outside of the Camp. She could tell that she was out of the territory. It felt sneaky, horrible, but more than that, exiting. The most exitment she'd ever had in her small life. For a moment, she hoped that there weren't any twolegs prowling about in the forest, or in the worst, even a monster. Her mind flashed back to where her father was being taken by the creatures. Ever since then, she'd been terrified of twolegs. Padding along happily, a grin on her face, she was edging deeper and deeper into the unkown land.

It was a pretty much normal day for Joysong, now that she was a warrior. She was hunting, and had a dead squirrel clamped in her jaws, ready to take to the fresh-kill pile back at camp, and more prey hastily buried along her scent trail. She had been planning to visit the nursery as usual, to see Spottedsun and all the kits. Heading to the camp, she noticed a milky scent trail, heading out of the territory. Silverkit! She recognized the scent immediently, since she stopped by the nursery so often and knew the smells of every kit in SoulClan. Quickening her pace, Joysong went to camp and left her prey for the others to share, and left again. They'll all figure I was going out again. The ginger tabby warrior started tracking the adventureous kit, and saw pretty swiftly that she was heading away from the DeathClan border, and let out a relieved sigh. Thank you, StarClan! she exclaimed in her head, looking up at the endless stretch of blue for a sky. Joysong broke into a run, her long legs eating up the sparse ground, her tail swishing in anticipation. Suddenly she crossed the scent marker into unknown territory, and stopped abruptly, and dropped instinctively into a crouch, sniffing the air cautiously. The young warrior relaxed when she only detected woodland smells, Silverkit, and a few animals she didn't recognize. Luckily the strongest scent was that little Silverkit's, occasionly making a detour to explore the roots of a tree and try her paws at a piece of prey; after all, Joysong could smell squirrels everywhere, but didn't want to hunt beyond SoulClan territory. Warily, she moved on, wandering just how deep in unclaimed territory Silverkit was.
Time passed slowly, and Joysong started to worry. What if I made the wrong decision, trying to find her myself? The thought echoed all around her, in the flutter of leaves and the scuffling of animals. Finally, the young warrior spotted a tiny silver pelt trotting along, and Joysong couldn't smell any fear besides her own, which vanished like mist in the warm sunshine. She began running and caught up to Silverkit. "Just what to you think you're doing, Silverkit?" Joysong's voice was thick with anger, but she knew Silverkit would know she was angry only because she was so worried. She calmed down, and her voice was no firm, though her sea blue eyes were gentle. "I bet the camp is in havoc now, looking all over for you! Come on, you're coming to camp with me. Whisperstar's not going to be happy." She gently nudged the kit, urging her toward the border. The sooner she gets apprenticed, the better. But there was something about the little kit's fearless, proud gaze that struck Joysong. After all, the warrior had always been fond of kits, showing an unnatural patience with them, a patience that never showed anywhere else. I hope I get to be her mentor. But it was unlikely, especially now that Thornclaw was free for an apprentice. Quickening her pace, she trotted a little ahead of Silverkit, constantly looking over her shoulder just to make sure she was following Joysong.

Silverkit growled softly to herself, knowing that she'd been caught. Hey...what's that...? She stopped and looked up. There was a big bird circling over them in the sky. "What's that up there?" Her squeaky voice asked the warrior. She sat down and smiled at the wonder that was going over her head. It started to dive in. Yay! I get to see what it is, now! She got in a pouncing position and she waited for the thing to get down lower. "I'm gunna get you!" She was mewing to herself, but Joysong could still hear her.

Joysong tilted her head in confusion, and gazed up at the sky, her expression blank and a bit confused. It turned to pure horror as she recognized the dangerous creature. Great StarClan, it's an eagle! "Silverkit!" she screeched in terror. "Get out the way!" She grabbed the kit by the scruff, ignoring her pitious mews on wonder. Joysong dived for the cover of a thick weeping willow tree, its low-hanging branches covering the cats from view. The warrior plunged in deep, so the massive bird could not prey on Silverkit. "That's an eagle," she hissed quietly. "They usually don't prey on kits, but if they found one that was easy, they'd try for it!" Joysong gently pressed her muzzle against the kit's side, calming her terrified meows. She listened as the creature passed, and peeked out from the protective weeping willow to find that it was gone. Flicking her tail, she beckoned Silverkit with her tail, and continued on.

Silverkit blinked, her heartrate going on fast because of the moment of complete fear. She wasn't scared at first, but Joysong had made it that way. Before, she had no idea that thing would want to kill her and eat her...Oh well. It was over. "Can't I stay out here just a little longer?" She hoped, but Silverkit was almost positive that she was going to be declined. "I think the forest is so cool!...But I can't come out here at all...When will I be able to, again?" She asked, her pitiful mews not meaning to sound so helpless and wanting. She wanted to be able to go out in the forest as much as she wanted; she wanted to know the territory, but for some reason she wasn't able to come out much. Only when she would sneak out. But even when she did that, she would get in so much trouble.
When she lived out in the forest with her parents it's not like they didn't let her explore, and nothing bad happened. "Before I lived here I could explore...why can't I, now?" Now she just wanted to know. She was curious, and that was one of her biggest problems. When she got curious, she had to know or else she would bug a cat to death, and literally. "Please?" She asked again, now needing to know the answer. All she wanted was to explore and know the territory around her, is that such a big deal...?

Joysong stared at the kit, her heartbeats becoming slower as she calmed down, and she twitched her ear as Silverkit asked to stay out longer. It's a long enough trip back to camp, and it's probably been thrown into chaos, looking for her. Despite her mischeif, the young warrior could not help admiring the kit's courage. Then Silverkit asked a question that made claws pierce her heart in pity.
Before I lived here I could explore...why can't I, now?
Joysong stayed absoulutely quiet for a moment, pretending to scan the undergrowth and the trees, and study the sky for any more signs of the eagle. Then she sighed and flicked her ginger-and-white tail in the direction of the SoulClan border marker, and meowed quietly, "Let me explain on the way, we should get you back to camp. It's a long enough trip; that should be enough to stay out in the forest." Joysong got up and arched her back in a stretch, her lean muscles rippling under her ginger tabby pelt. Then she padded toward the territory in silence for a few moments. Finally, after what seemed like moons, she spoke, trying her best to persuade Silverkit to not come out again.
"Well, Silverkit, we need our kits to stay in camp for their own protection. With DeathClan on the prowl, no cat is safe, and kits who stray away from their mothers and out of camp are sometimes found- and not by the right cat. I remember Skykit...." The ginger warrior sighed, grief shimmering in her oceab blue eyes. "In the midnight raid, do you know how many kits died? Let's see..." She flexed her claws, going over the names in her mind, the grief in her eyes growing with every name that passed through her thoughts. "Jaykit, Reedkit, and Snowkit. And Snowkit's death..." A sudden rush of sadness, anger, and guilt choked her into silence for the briefest moment, and then her voice rose to a high-pitched wail. "Snowkit's death was all my fault!" she blurted out, thick anger rising inside her. Joysong swallowed, calming herself for a limited time. "And Skykit ventured away, and then she was killed by Whitefire of DeathClan." Her voice bitter, she concluded, "So that's why you don't go exploring until you're an apprentice. Got it?" Joysong set a brisker pace, narrowing her eyes at the luminous trees before her.

Silverkit's big eyes looked up at Joysong. A kit's death, all her fault? What in StarClan's name was this warrior talking of? "Huh? You killed a kit?" She didn't mean for it to sound that way, but it came out that way. It was amazing to her, all of this kits dying. Was she going to be next? No, she was sure she wasn't going to let herself die. Even if she was in the worst situation against a dog, or even a warrior of DeathClan, she wasn't going to let herself die. Never. "I-I mean...Uh..." She sighed. Silverkit could never get her words to come out right, and this time was about the worst. She felt bad for this warrior, and even more she was curious about her. It was interesting to her. This cat had been through so much more than her, and all she wanted now was to know the knowledge that this she-cat knew.
She was padding along side Joysong, thoughts racing through her small head. Something didn't seem right...She was attacked by an eagle and was almost killed, though she was already completely over it. How was it possible, she didn't know. Better yet, why does she have such a desire to explore? She was a kit, but even though, it was a burning fire that she couldn't die down. Her eyes ached to see everything she could possibly see. That alone was enough to drive her completely insane.
"How did she die?" Silverkit reverted back to her original question. She knew that she sounded rude and heartless, but it was the best way she could word it.

Whitefire's eyes flashed as usual. She had been stalking up to a little brown rabbit, nibbling on anything it could find edible. It never noticed the calico Warrior slowly creeping up towards the 'poor fellow.' Whitefire then pounced, flashing out her unsheathed right paw and sliced his neck. New prey for DeathClan. Cool.
She buried the rabbit quickly, and proceeded on, nearing the SoulClan border. She was way up north, so the camp was a far ways away. But she was closer to Joysong and Silverkit. Of course, she didn't know that. Yet. She padded to the border, where a mass of thickets stood in her way. She crouched down, her tail swishing. The wind changed, and she could scent two faint scents. A warm milky scent (most likely a kit) and then Joysongs. This would be interesting.
It seemed they were coming nearer, so she peered around the Thickets and then ran over to sit down and curl her tail of her paws right in the middle of the path. She chuckled slightly. This would get very interesting.
She could hear their paw steps getting closer and closer, and their voices.
"Snowkit's death was all my fault!" Joysong had whined. "And Skykit ventured away, and then she was killed by Whitefire of DeathClan." Her voice turned bitter. That made Whitefire smirk. Then the kit got back into the conversation of Snowkit. Curious kit, no? ___________ Word Count: 257 Notes: Whoo, tension! Muse: ... Thread Status -- Open

Joysong stared at Silverkit, not noticing DeathClan scent for a moment. The kit looked surprised at the fact a kit's death was all Joysong's fault. Every cat in the Clan knew how fond the young warrior was of kits. She took a breath quickly, and the grief began to melt away to the usual calm gentleness she used around kits. "Well, I didn't exactly kill Snowkit, as you say-" Joysong broke off, sniffing the air. Whitefire, the cursed fox dung! She veered away from the border, and her pace quickened, just enough for Silverkit to trot beside her a bit faster. Then she started again, "Sorry, Silverkit, I scented that cursed heap of fox dung we call DeathClan. Anyway, I never actually killed Snowkit. Nightpaw of DeathClan killed her, that dang apprentice just wouldn't take the message when I fought her. I should've done more to help the poor kit. Her brother Reedkit was murdered too. Those kits had so much potential..." The ginger warrior sighed softly, her eyes brimming unusually bright with hard-hit grief. Though Silverkit sounded quite rude when she asked the questions, Joysong knew that all kits stumbled over vocabulary. She twitched her tail, the white spoltches brushing the sparse ground. Her tail reminded her quite strangely of some deep, hidden memory inside her. Forcing herself to search her memory, she came upon it, the rememberance of her first name. Apparently, when she died, she had recovered all her history before SoulClan. She had belonged to an evil Clan called RoseClan, and she had been named, weirdly, Spoltchkit, for the almost random white on her tail. She liked her new name much, much better. Jerking herself back into the present, she realized she had "zoned". "I'm sure all kits enjoy exploring, Silverkit. By the time I stumbled into SoulClan, a tiny, half-starved kit with my sister Honeykit following me blindly, I was nearly ready for my apprenticeship, so I was busy watching the other apprentices and practicing their moves. It was quite fun, actually. But you're younger, so it's different for you." Joysong cautiously sniffed the air again, and could still decipher Whitefire's scent, fresh and hanging there, as if the annoying she-cat was hiding. "Let's go before Whitefire comes out," she meowed urgently, going faster.

Silverkit followed blindly behind. She was still confused on everything, but she wasn't going to let it show. She was four moons. In two more, she would be apprenticed and she could go out and explore and do anything that her little heart desired. At the moment, there was nothing she could do to entertain herself. She sighed and wanted to meet these...DeathClan cats.
Silverkit stopped for a moment, looking back. The scent of the new cats hit her hard. They didn't smell nice...Silverkit decided they smelled mangy, at first; then it changed into a scent of an herb that she'd smelled in the medicine cat den before. That didn't smell nice, either. Maybe it wasn't the exact thing, but it was close to it. Since Silverkit was young, it was hard for her to point out scents like that.
Her mind trailed off and she didn't continue walking; Joysong didn't notice. The little kit was lost in thought and her ears pricking at everything. For some reason, everything seemed to be more defined when it was cut out. When the DeathClan warrior walked out of the bushes behind her, she turned around to meet her.

Faint voices had been drifting on the breeze, entering Whitefire's ears and forcing a smile to curl across her face. Joysong was currently speaking of how Snowkit's death was partly her fault, and how much she hated DeathClan etc. That was a pretty interesting story to tell.
So yes, she kept droning on and on about her life, explaining how when she was half-starved and scared when stumbling into SoulClan with her sister she couldn't have much exploring fun because she was an apprentice soon after...Wow. Joysong never stopped talking! Whitefire sighed. She could tell Joysong had gone the other way, just to avoid Whitefire. Smart cat.
Then all was silent. The kit did not talk and neither did Joysong.
The only sound was Whitefire's steady breathing and the approaching paws of the little kit that couldn't follow rules. The warrior pushed through the bushes and rested her eyes on the silver face of the SoulClan kit. "Hello." _____________ Word Count: 177 Notes: Bored... Silverkit narrowed her tiny eyes (yet big for her head) at this new cat. This was apparently the cat from DeathClan that Joysong was talking about. When the cat's mocking voice chimed through her ears, it made her sick to her stomach. This cat had killed kits; kits just like her. But...She wasn't scared. Something that she thought that she would be dead serious about, she wasn't scared at all. Silverkit didn't feel like running, she didn't feel like asking anybody else for help. She just felt like examining this cat for what she was. Maybe she wasn't such a bad cat, possibly misunderstood.
It took Silverkit a moment to reply, but her shy voice came in just as strong as it ever did. "...Hi." Was all the small kit said. She couldn't think what was with this cat. The eerie glow that came with her. "Whitefire..." She muttered under her breath, though the DeathClan warrior could still hear her. The tiny kit still couldn't place what was with this cat she'd just met. It wasn't that she was scary to her or anything, just creepy. "Do you want to kill me?" She asked, curious.

Just at the moment when Silverkit asked curiously, Do you want to kill me? Joysong realized that the she-kit was gone. Again. Stifling a mew of exasperation, she whipped around and saw her talking to her greatest DeathClan enemy. Her number one foe ever since the two warriors were no more than apprentices. Joysong froze dead to the spot, her eyes fixed huge.
Whitefire, the calico warrior and one of the worst murderers in DeathClan.
Joysong shook her head and strode up, her gaze calm. She dipped her head politely, even though Whitefire and Silverkit couldn't see it, she desperately wanted to sink her claws in the DeathClan warrior's pelt and throw her back in her own territory. Her gesture was simply a curteous greeting between equals, no longer the respectful approach of an apprentice to a warrior of another Clan. "Greetings, Whitefire. I see the prey in your Clan must be running well." The ginger warrior eyed Whitefire's sleek white coat, shining in the sun. But the SoulClan warrior was not outdone. Joysong's pelt was just as sleek and shining, her muscles rippling smoothly with her lean, light frame. The two she-cats were formidable opponents, and if they fought it would be close and interesting to watch. Her muscles tensed in readiness, knowing she would never encounter a DeathClan cat and not fight it. "I suggest you get off our territory, unless you want to fight me today." Joysong's voice was calm, almost like gentle water lapping at the shore. Her eyes were narrowed warningly. They seemed to say, You wanna fight? I can fight you. And win easily. Are you up for it? Go back to DeathClan territory, or I rip your pelt off. The challenge was as clear as if the ginger warrior had screamed it to the skies.
Joysong stepped up, the light of battle shining in her sea blue eyes. "Whatever you do, Whitefire, you have better not harm Silverkit. You don't want to know what'll happen if you raise a claw against her." Flexing her claws, her pawed at the ground, waiting for her response. Watching and waiting. Her pelt began to itch with anticipation. Her ginger-and-white tail was flicking slightly, and her ears twitched. Well, Whitefire? Will you do it? The thoughts echoed in her mind, and she gave her chest fur a few licks with a concious gesture, still waiting a bit nervously. Her eyes narrowed further, now no more than brilliant blue slits. She suddenly had the unusual longing to call Whitefire Whitepaw just to provoke her and get seek revenge for all the times Whitefire had tried to annoy Joysong. The thought made her lips curl slightly, and her eyes glinted with mischief again, and her mouth trembled slightly with disguised laughter, but after a moment the longing passed and she was just her regular self, calm yet challenging.

Whitefire cocked her head to the site. The kit's eyes narrowed cautiously. She held her ground with much determination. That was different. Usually SoulClan kits cowered in fear at one glance at any DeathClan cat. She was different. Rather cool.
"...Hi." She finally managed to reply in her strong voice. "Oh cool, you know my name." Whitefire smirked. She could hear the kit mutter Whitefire under her breath with a rather...curious tone it seemed to Whitefire. She looked up at her face and asked: "Do you want to kill me?" What a question! Whitefire chuckled. "My my, why would I kill such a brave kit? You'd be a perfect addition to DeathClan you know." Part of her meant it. What nerve the silver cat had was rather amazing.
Whitefire was surprised Joysong hadn't come yet. Maybe she was still droning on and on. Wow. But of course, Whitefire was wrong. Joysong soon strode up calmly but stiffly. "Hello, Joypaw. Yes our prey is fine. Very rich. I see yours is going well too." Both had their sleek pelts shining with their muscles showing. It was clear, both would make a fair match against each other. Any time either of them would fight (unless the prey was bad) it would be very close. "Oh no! I unfortunately do not feel the need to fight, because of course, I would win." She shrugged. Her smugness was going to help her and hurt her. She was going to take the chance anyways. "But, I can do whatever I want. You may follow StarClan, but I do not. You may do what you're told, but I do not. Which means -" She unsheathed her right paw and brushed it across Silverkit's neck, almost copying what Shattergaze had done with Flamepaw. "- Now, what are you going to do about it?'' She sneered.

Silverkit growled lowly when Whitefire's claw ran over her throat. She wasn't scared of being killed, she was angered by how this cat would go against the warrior code and would kill a kit such as herself. "Get away from me!" She took a chance and sprung backwards, standing beside Joysong. Of course she wouldn't be able to fight, but she could run and get help. I can't talk out loud, Whitefire will hear and call in reinforcements....Maybe I should just go back and get some more SoulClan warriors...or maybe Joysong wants to fight this battle alone. I don't know!
She was fighting with herself internally, not knowing what to do. Her confused and puzzled eyes were looking from side to side, "What do I do...?" She muttered to herself, her voice uncertain.

Joysong's voice was tight with fury, her eyes no more than slits as she went up to Whitefire and stood nose-to-nose with her. "Excuse me, Whitefire, but my name is Joysong. I'm not an apprentice anymore, as neither are you. Though you act quite vaguely as one." The she-cat warrior grinned mischeiviously. "Oh, I'm sorry. You're going to have to fight anyways. You know it. And you're going to lose. You think I didn't pay attention when Thornclaw taught me how to take you down? Well, I did. So, either beat it back to DeathClan territory-" Here she unsheathed her claws, and moved them to a shaft of sunlight so they glistened, and her tail was far away from her paws, making her look very threatening- "Or you fight me. And lose. Any questions, Whitepaw?" Her ocean blue eyes danced in a demonic manner. No more hidden challenges- this one was clear as a sparkling stream. Then she heard Silverkit fretting over what to do. She whispered to the confused kit, "You just get back and let me fight. This is my battle, not any other cat's." Whitefire's smugness would go against her in this battle. "Oh, Silverkit's not going anywhere. Not to DeathClan. She belongs to SoulClan, like you once did, if I'm not correct." Flexing her claws, she tensed, her lean muscles ready. This was going to be a hard fight. "So, Whitefire. Why don't you fight? Are you no more than a kittypet?" she taunted, a fake grin on her face. Truthfully, she just wanted to teach her number one foe a lesson in disguise. She swiped her tougue over her lips as if relishing a juicy piece of fresh-kill. Her eyes widened, no longer brilliant blue slits, but just their regular shining roundness.
