Metalkit paced up and down the hollow where the Queen's Den was, scowling. He hated being confined here, hated being apart from the rest of the Clan, hated being ignored. His long legs ate up the small area of the Den. He was tall for his age, and when he grew Metalkit would be very large and very strong. Metalkit knew he would make a good warrior, but thoughts in his mind nagged him.
He was different, and he knew it. Not quite as bloodthirsty as the rest of his brothers and sisters...not as bloodthirsty as his mother, Cipher. He thought things the rest of the DeathClan cats didn't, and he hated himself for it.
Something is wrong with me, and I need to stop it. I can't be like this. I'm a loyal DeathClan cat...

Cipher watched Metalkit pace the nursery. His legs were very long... He will probably be one of the fastest runners though. she thought proudly. '' Metalkit, you are acting like you have ants in your pelt. Why don't you sit down and tell me what's on your mind? '' she mewed to her kit. Though Cipher had done a lot of things in the past, she would do anything for her kits, even if it meant listening to their little problems.... '' And your fur is filthy, come here you need a good wash.. '' she muttered quietly, careful not to wake up the rest of her litter, who were sleeping.

Metalkit's head rose as he heard his mother call out to him. Lost in his thoughts, he hadn't even noticed the other cats around him until the voice had dredged him back to the world. He stopped pacing and padded toward his mother until he sat beside her. I hope she doesn't clean my pelt... He thought, his face scrunching up.
But he looked away as Cipher asked what was wrong. Could he tell her? She'd understand, right? She was his mom...that had to count for something, even if this was DeathClan. Looking away, his green eyes went hard. "It's just..." he sighed. "I feel different sometimes. Like, I get lost in my thoughts, and I feel like I'm thinking different things than the other cats. And I hate it. I just want to be like everybody else, I just want to be a DeathClan warrior, but I feel like I'm not!"

Cipher smiled a little, so that's what was bothering him. Cipher began to groom Metalkit's already shiney gray fur. She stopped for a moment looking over her kit. Cipher felt a little pang of sadness, was it because his mother was once a rouge and he had no actual DeathClan blood in him? '' Well it's okay to be different Metalkit. When you are a warrior it'll be good to stand out you know. '' she said smiling at him. Or was this because he didn't even want to be a warrior? Did he feel different because he wanted to be a medicine cat and all his litter mates talked about was becoming wariors. Cipher flicked her ears. '' No matter how differently you act, even from your own siblings and all the other DeathClan cats, as long as you're loyal it doesn't matter. ''
'' You know, your father was like that. He was a great cat, I only wish you could have met him... '' she mewed gently and licked a tuft of fur the refused to lie flat. '' He had a brilliant mind, always thinking. You should be very proud to take after your father Metalkit, he went to great hights and I'm sure you will too. And you're very handsom like him. '' she added and began grooming he fur again.

Metalkit sighed. Cipher was making him feel a little better...but he didn't think he would stand out in a good way for what he was thinking. And it was hard enough always having to prove himself since his parents weren't from DeathClan. Not that he didn't like his mother, he did. It was just those other kits had it so easy...Metalkit scowled. They're the kits of the Leader. They'll never have to prove their loyalty...it's not fair. Metalkit shifted as his mother cleaned his fur. He wanted to be a warrior, very much, but his thoughts made him worry...
As Cipher mentioned his father, his ears perked up and he looked back at his mother. "He was a great cat? Really? I bet he was, the best." His eyes were sure. It made his heart swell to hear he was like his father Sol. Metalkit wished he was there...maybe Sol would have known what to make of his thoughts. Metalkit wanted to be a great DeathClan cat, it was just hard...

Whitepaw flounced in, carrying as much moss she could fit in her jaws. She mewed a muffled 'hi' then set down the wet moss. "Hi." She repeated, clearer then last time. "What're you talking about?" Whitepaw asked separating the moss into tiny parts, one for each kit of for Starlingpelt and Cipher. She hated this job. With only her and Mintpaw, it was tough. But they'd decided to split the job fifty fifty, considering there was no elders.

Cipher smiled as Metalkit seemed to get happier about she had mentioned about Sol. '' Yes, he was the best. One of the best cats I have ever met. You really are just like him, he would be very proud of you, I know for sure. And I know it's not easy to live in a new home when you are different. I felt the same way when I first came to DeathClan. But it really is great here, I was lucky I found this place. You are surrounded by great cats. '' she mewed and began to groom his fur again, determined to get at every last speck of dirt. '' And isn't it nice to be surrounded by other kits? Starlingpelt's kits are very nice. '' she bent lower to Metalkit and whispered in his ear, '' You know Stonekit is very pretty, you should try talking to her. ''

Metalkit looked up as an apprentice padded into the Den's and put down a mouthful of moss. What was her name...Whitepaw, right? Yeah, that was it... As she asked what they were talking about, Metalkit looked away and shrugged. "My father and stuff." He didn't really want any other cats to know what was on his mind, it could be bad...
He turned back to his mother. She was right, it had to have been even harder for her. At least he had been born in DeathClan, Cipher didn't even have that. And he did love his Clan, he wanted to serve it and protect hit...he wanted desperately to fit in. As Cipher mentioned the other kits, he nodded. "Yeah, it's nice...we have a lot of kits to play with and fight with. It would be so boring if we were alone!" Then Cipher lowered her head and whispered in his ear about Stonekit. She is pretty... Metalkit had already noticed that, of course. But she also seemed...well, just really evil. The look in her eyes always showed her wish to bring death. His thoughts collided again. She's pretty, and we could be friends. I just don't know... He shook the thought away. "Yeah, maybe I will try talking to her. We could be friends," he told his mother.

'' Hello Whitepaw, thanks for the moss. '' she mewed then turned back to Metalkit, '' That's my brave little warrior! '' she mewed to him and smiled. '' She is very nice, I am sure she would love to play with you Metalkit. Next time you and your brothers and sisters are playing, why don't you invite her and Starlingpelt's other kits? I bet it would be loads of fun to play with a big group like that! '' she mewed encouragingly. Metalkit was often lost in though, maybe it would be good for him to play with other kits. '' Now lean in closer, your ears are filthy! '' she mewed and then fussed over washing his little ears.

Metalkit nodded. Cipher had to be right. Of course Stonekit was nice...she had to be. Then his eyes brightened at the thought of playing with all of the other kits. It would be fun if they could all play together. Maybe they could even have a DeathClan versus SoulClan war! That would be so much fun...but of course Metalkit would be on the DeathClan side. He eyed the rest of camp, searching for the kits. I bet everyone would want to play...where are they? They could practice fighting and stuff too, which would be great for training later on.
As Cipher began to wash his ears, Metalkit cringed. "Hey! Stop, my ears are fine!" He hoped none of the other kits were watching...it was bad enough Whitepaw was there...

Cipher looked at her kit with an annoyed look then smiled. '' So stubborn like your father. '' she mewed happily. '' And your ears still have a speck of dirt, if you would just let me.... '' she mewed then licked his ear clean. '' There now you are fine. There is no need to be embarresed. It's okay to take a bath you know! '' she mewed and prodded Metalkit with her paw. '' And I'll let you in on a seceret Metalkit. Shattergaze told me that you would be apprenticed soon! So I wanna make sure I see you practicing your fighting moves, you hear me? But I know you'll do fine, you are a very good fighter already. '' she mewed and smiled at him.

"Maybe he can watch my training session soon." Whitepaw offered. "If he's that close to being an apprentice, he might as well have to upper hand when it comes to battling SoulClan." Whitepaw shrugged. Her ear twitched. "The other kits can too...I just don't know where they are." She murmured.

Metalkit cringed a little more. Ecch, my ear!! Then she was done, and it was over. He scowled a bit. "It is too embarrassing, what if Darkstar sees? He'd never let me be a warrior then. I bet he doesn't get his ears cleaned..." But his ears pricked immediatly as Cipher mentioned becoming an apprentice. "Really? Shattergaze said so?" He jumped to his feet and bounced for a moment. "I'll practice, I swear, even with the other kits. I'll be even a better fighter!"
The Whitepaw offered to allow him to watch her training session with Shattergaze, and Metalkit ran over to her. "Really? I want to so bad!" It would be great, watching Whitepaw train with the Deputy! This would help him: just watching could make him a better fighter, a better DeathClan cat, and take his mind off things... He turned back to Cipher. "I can watch, right? I better be able to watch!" His green eyes blazed.

(( I forgot that u were Shattergaze for a sec xD )) Cipher smiled, Metalkit was so eager! '' As long as it's okay with Shattergaze and you don't go wandering off it's fine. '' she mewed, '' And you have to thank Whitepaw too. '' she added quickly. She was glad to see that Metalkit wasn't troubled for once, and he was just like any other kit, eager to become a warrior. '' Shattergaze is a great warrior, it'll be a great experience to watch her train Metalkit. And if you train super hard like you said, you'll be one of the best warriors in the clan! '' And for your information I know for a fact that Darkstar washes his ears! '' she added.

"I won't wander off, I swear!" Metalkit promised. Besides, why would he wander off when he could be watching Shattergaze train Whitepaw? He turned his eager face to Whitepaw. "She'll say it's okay, right Whitepaw? And I promise I won't leave. And thanks for the offer too!" He quickly added. He turned back to his mother. "Yeah! It's going to be awesome to watch a Deputy train a cat! I bet Whitepaw is super good too." His green eyes shone. "I'm gonna train really hard, I'll be so strong, no one will mess with me!" As Cipher mentioned Darkstar washing his ears, he curiously narrowed his eyes. "Really? Even Darkstar?" Then his face cracked a smile. "I bet Starlingpelt does it!"

Stonekit stands and stretches her legs, her tail swishing back and forth. "Metalkit, you'll take me when you go training, wont you?" They were both ready to be apprentices, and she was sick of just sitting around. She had all ready snuck into battles, the scars along her side were proof of her plans gone wrong. Not that she didn't give any SoulCats some scars right back. Her copper eyes flash as they meet his, daring him to deny her.
