Her voice was dangerously calm. But I admire his courage in speaking up to me, she thought. "You don't need to remind me about the deputy, thank you. I may be grieving for Fallenleaf, but I haven't lost my mind," she snapped.

Dogfang lost control of his temper at the stupid question. '' Saidie real warriors don't need permission to hunt! '' he hissed. '' But of course, that's why you would ask! '' he snarled to her then turned back to Whisperstar as he cooled down. I'll make sure that kittypet is put in her place. he thought to himself shooting a quick glare to Saidie making sure she saw it.

Whisperstar looked at Dogfang for one more heartbeat. I should choose him, a voice in her mind urged. But she had a bad feeling in the bottom of her heart. Why should that be so? Then she nodded and turned away. "Thank you. Why don't you..." she looked around. "Why don't you finish organizing the patrols and then get something to eat. I must hold the Deputy ceremony."
