Stormheart, who had been hunting when DeathClan had attacked, charged at Whitepaw, barreling into her and sending her flying. She stood rigid, her green eyes glowing with anger. "Get out of here fox-dung!" She snarled to Whitepaw.

"What the hell yourself, you stupid excuse for a cat! Get back in your own stupid territory!" Joypaw lunged at at Whitepaw, now weakening, with her claws outstrecthed. She was furious at Whitepaw for bringing up the subject again. Whitepaw was the one who brought Stormheart there in the first place, and she didn't force Storm to kill her. She didn't even mean to! Joypaw's claws raked Whitepaw's face. Mustering every scrap of strength possible, she bit down into her tail, as if she was trying her best to bite it off.
Scarheart watched a moment, his fury growing. Letting out a bloodcurdling yowl, he flew at Joypaw, who had just bitten Whitepaw's tail. Scarheart barreled her over, and using all of his own strength, which was quite a bit, he raised a paw and flung it at her head, claws unsheathed. Blood welled down the wound, which was horribly bad, and he snarled, "And that's the end of it. Whitepaw, Stonekit, we're going back." Turning around, he winked at Whitepaw, reminding her if the nighttime ambush.
Joypaw sneered at Whitepaw, "Yeah, that's right, walk away, and never come back!" As soon as they left, she relaxed, letting her fur lie flat again.

"That's right, they better run," Stormheart taunted as the DeathClan cats ran away. Once they were far enough away that they couldn't hear her, Stormheart mumbled to Joypaw: "What do you think was their hurry? I mean, all over the sudden they come out of nowhere and fight us, and then in one second call it off. Something's definitely up, that isn't like DeathClan at all." She looked towards the DeathClan border, uneasiness flooding through her. Something's definitely wrong, she thought.

Whitepaw smirked at the wink as she pulled away from Joypaw. She needed to save her energy, anyways. "Oh we won't be the ones running away, soon. Very soon." She muttered. Whitepaw looked back one more time, a sneer plastered on her face, before following Scarheart, and guarding Stonekit.
"I wonder when I'm gonna be a warrior." She suddenly said. "Do you know, Scarheart?" Whitepaw asked curiously. "Is it gonna be after the battle if I do good?" The SoulClanners were out of earshot so it didn't matter is she spoke of the battle. She sighed. "I hope I become one soon. then I can be a true warrior of DeathClan..."

Dogfang rolled his eyes, smirking, and shaking his head. Those cat's comments had no affect on him. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, right? Ha ha, no, it was: Teeth and claws may rip my pelt but words will never hurt me. Such foolish cats they were, thinking their statements could hurt me, he thought, chuckling.
Now, maybe a good ole scratch through his eye would hurt a little, but hey, another medal of battle --no, of an arguement, but they were extremely close-- was worth it. All the more love from Whisperstar, eh? His tail prickled with hatred, How many times are they going to call me 'fox-dung'? That's the worst word I've ever heard! but he shook away the feeling.
Dogfang began to trek through the forest, watching the trees dance past him, his ears twisting this way and that. . . until they picked up the last thing he wanted to hear. He would never get a moment alone, would he?
The Deputy charged toward the battle calls, but they quickly faded away. He smashed through the trees, his eyes smoldering in anger. DeathClan's scent swirled around Stormheart, Joypaw, and Windpaw, while Sandheart and another cat --oh great, another loner-- stood off. The three cats were wounded and panting, and rage filled Dogfang's voice like blood on the forest floor.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? DID YOU ATTACK DEATHCLAN WITHOUT MY PERMISSION?" He screeched, jumping forward. He was this close to ripping their faces off. He was almost disappointed that DeathClan hadn't torn them apart. "I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST THAT YOU WEREN'T DUMB ENOUGH TO ATTACK WITHOUT ME OR WHISPERSTAR'S SIGNAL! SANDHEART, GET THEM BACK TO CAMP, AND AFTER THEIR ALL FIXED UP, THEY WILL BE CONFINED TO THE CAMP FOR THREE MOONS." His boiling eyes landed on each of their wounds. "NO, FOUR MOONS. I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS MOUSE-DUNG.
"JOYPAW, THORNCLAW SHOULD'VE TAUGHT YOU BETTER AND STORMHEART, I WANT TO RIP OUT YOUR HEART SO BAD; YOU HAVE NO WORTH TO THIS FORESAKEN CLAN. WINDPAW, WHEREVER THE HELL YOU CAME FROM, I DON'T GIVE A MOUSE-TAIL ABOUT WHAT THEY TAUGHT YOU. YOU KNOW NOTHING."
He took ragged deep breaths, and then felt a nerve pop in his forehead. His stomach hurt like hell and Dogfang felt almost dizzy with rage. Dang, this isn't healthy. . . I've got. . . to l-lay- "do-wn. ." he whispered, collasping to the ground. The world spun around him, but he forced himself into a sitting position, acting as if nothing was wrong.
He slowly turned his swirling eyes to the new cat. "Get the hell off this territory. Now. I don't give a crap why you're here. I can't. . . take care of you now. . . but if I see you again. . . you're worse than road-kill. . ." He groaned to himself, almost puking up his most recent meal.

Stormheart glared at Dogfang. "Listen here, Deputy!" She snarled loudly. "I don't give a rat's tail what position you are, you have NO idea what just happened! DeathClan just attacked US, so we defended ourselves. There was no time to run off and 'get permission'. We'd be DEAD by then!" She lashed her tail, truely furious. "So before you say that I have no worth, maybe you should check you facts! And if you want to rip out my heart, fine! It's already shredded to dust now, why don't you destroy it some more?!" She turned away, glaring, unsheathing her claws.

He took a deep breath, his flaming eyes landing on her back. His voice was as hard as steel and grinded against her with each syllable. "You did a pretty lousy job of it. I would have liked it just fine if the three of you died."

Stormheart turned back to Dogfang. "They're gone, aren't they?! We chased them off while you were just sitting around somewhere lazily!" She snarled, her tail lashing. "I'd be overflowing with joy if you died!"

Joypaw panted, her wound still bleeding, her head spinning with the wound Scarheart had placed upon her. She whispered to a furious Stormheart, "I don't know. You're right; Scarheart's a true DeathClan warrior, it's unusual for him, of all cats, to stop a border skirmish." Then she whipped her head around to find Dogfang screeching at them like therewas no tomorrow. "What the hell yourself, DEPUTY?!" she yowled back. "Yeah, that's right, check your facts!! Whitepaw went over the border, so we had to defend the border. If you want to support DeathClan, why don't you go join them? We'd be delighted if you left." Anger made Joypaw's limbs shake, and her wound was still bleeding. She whispered to Stormheart, "One day, Storm. One day." She figured Stormheart knew what she was talking about. "Me too!! We'd all be dancing the night away if you died!!"
Scarheart tilted his head automatically at Whitepaw's question, thinking. "The Clan was waiting for you to show where your loyalites lie," he began. "I think this had proved it, and I will report it to Shattergaze," he continued, naming Whitepaw's mentor. "And most likely after the battle, when you do well, you should receive your warrior name." Scarheart emphasized when. He knew he was speaking the truth.

"Joypaw, let's get you to Sandheart before you bleed to death," Stormheart said, looking for any reason to get away from Dogfang. "Let's hope that day is soon," she whispered into her ear, then growled, raking her claws against one of the trees, leaving deep marks. "Come on, Joypaw."

Joypaw blinked at Stormheart, understanding. "Sure, and I hope Deathsong has to cut off Whitepaw's tail," she snarled, remembering how she'd done her best to bite her tail off and naming DeathClan's medicine cat. She licked a paw and drew it over the wound, and when she looked at it was soaked in blood. As she started staggering to camp, she told Stormheart, "Believe me, Whisperstar's the only cat in the Clan that feels even a scrap of respect for that... that heap of fox dung. I'm sure everyone else will help reveal him one day." She glared at a tree, and dug her claws into the ground for a moment, as if trying to tear it up.

Windpaw stands slowly, shaking her head and flicking the blood from the fur on her face. She hisses in pain and tries to figure out what hurt the most. "Can I go to the medicine cat as well?" She doesnt even acknowledge the deputy. He doesn't matter, he's just a small hurdle to get over in her lifetime. She had bigger things to worry about.
Stonekit trots along side Whitepaw. "That was awesome! Can you teach me how to fight like that?" She looks back at where they had come from, trying to see if she could still see that place where they'd fought.

"Of course, Windpaw," Joypaw called over her shoulder. She slowed down, waiting for the gray tabby to catch up. When she was walking right next to Joypaw and Stormheart, she asked, "Are you having trouble walking? You seem a bit sluggish," Joypaw was staggering herself, but her wound was getting a little less bad, the blood was trickling now. She licked her bloodstained paw clean, and flexed her shoulder, offering it to Windpaw if she needed support. When they were out of earshot of the rotton deputy, she mewed, directing both Stormheart and Windpaw, "You know, I wonder what Dogfang's trying to do. I bet he's trying to get us down- but we shouldn't let him, don't you think? Sure, he makes me more furious than I've ever been in my life, but it'd infuriate him if he sees he can't bother us. StarClan won't let him become leader- Something will happen. I can feel it," Suddenly, Joypaw chuckled. "I sound just like Faithsong," she remarked, referring to the silvery she-cat's unshakable faith in StarClan. She halted abruptly, eyes wide. She whipped her head around to the two she-cats with her, wonder flickering in her eyes like minnows in the sea, though making her wounded head protest with a shriek of pain. She closed her eyes, and blinked them open again, hardly believing it. "Don't you think this is just like the thing with Tigerstar?" she meowed quickly. "Ambitious and horrible, but hidden from the leader?"

"Yeah, if he sees he can't bother us, that'll really make him mad. Maybe he'll even back off of us." She nodded, then look at Joypaw. "Joypaw, you need help yourself. Here, let me help you," she said. "And I do think this is just like the thing with Tigerstar. But more then one cat knows that Dogfang is like that, the fox-dung didn't try to keep it hidden from us at all. Except for Whisperstar."

Joypaw nodded, grateful for the help. Pain was still shooting through her head, and she was a little dizzy. Using Stormheart's shoulder for support, she began staggering again, her pace quicker. Windpaw seemed worse, though, and Joypaw kept a watch on her out of the corner of her eyes, which were narrowed with concern. "It's amazing how Dogfang keeps it a secret from Whisperstar. I mean, as long as she's not around, a blind rabbit could see how ambitious and horrible he is. But when our leader's here, he's suddenly loyal and kind and a wonderful deputy." Joypaw snorted. "Why did Fallenleaf have to die? I swear, the next time I see that Shattergaze, I'll give her a pawful of my claws, and take a pawful of her fur." The ginger apprentice swiped a paw at the air, snarling. "What bothers me, though, is a question. Why would Dogfang treat us this way? Certainly he'll want loyalty, respect and support if he becomes leader?" Joypaw scowled at the ground, where she'd been able to pick up Dogfang's penetrating scent trail. She breathed in forest scents, trying to block out the traitorous deputy's smell. "Well, he does have enough self-respect to not need another cat's," she mewed sarcastically and wonderingly at the same time. Changing the subject, she asked, "When we get fixed up by Sandheart, why don't we come back and get the prey, and pick up some more?" Joypaw hadn't eaten much in the past quarter moon, her mind troubled by Dogfang. But the fight had worked up her appetite. "We needed a fight to liven us up," she remarked, flexing her claws. "Great StarClan, I hope we get some rain soon," she added. "The streams are beginning to trickle, and the river's low." Just then did Joypaw notice the hot, humid air, and the roll of pespiration down her back and face, and was grateful for the cover of the trees.

Dogfang hissed to himself as the she-cat left, shaking his head. Those cats have no idea what's going to kill them in their sleep one day, he thought, chuckling.
Their scents faded away, but their blood that was begining to sink into the ground still smelt like them. His ears still roared from the fall, but he sat there, ears flicking as he picked up their rude remarks before they faded away.
They compared me to Tigerstar? My my, I'm so loved! I feel amazing! his mouth twisted into a grin, his sharp, white teeth shining.
He wanted to get away from everyone now, knowing that things were going to calm down now . . . until he riled them right back up once he got back to camp. Boy, Joypaw, Stormheart, and Windpaw would love being stuck in their dens, pain shooting through their limbs every moment of time. Frowning, though, he remembered that they'd heal more that way anyways. He smirked, not caring.
Dogfang put one paw out, standing slowly up, and placed each paw in its place until he could walk again. His face throbbed, and he knew that the string of nerves were that one popped would be hurting for the next few days. He turned back toward the forest, letting the shadows engulf him, ready to hunt.
