Prologue
Fireheart sped away across the clearing. Cinderpaw sprinted after him. “Fireheart, wait!” she called.
“Go back to your den, Cinderpaw.” he meowed over his shoulder without slowing down.
“But I could go and give Tigerclaw the message while you get the catnip!”
Fireheart stopped in his tracks and turned to face his young apprentice. “Cinderpaw, if there are any ShadowClan warriors around, you need to stay in camp.” Cinderpaw was crushed.
“Go back to your den!” he growled one final time and then took off.
Why didn’t he let me go? she thought bitterly. Cinderpaw didn’t care though, she kept racing forward toward Tigerclaw.
She finally spotted the ash tree Dustpaw had told Fireheart about. She realized that it was right next to the Thunderpath. She was in the process of crossing the Thunderpath when, suddenly she was startled by the sound of an approaching monster. She was so frightened that she couldn’t move. The monster was surely going to hit her!
“Watch out!” Cinderpaw was knocked to the ground.
Almost immediately after, a high-pitched screech filled her ears. The noise of the monster had finally died down.
When Cinderpaw looked up she saw a sand-colored cat lying next to the Thunderpath motionless.
“Sandpaw!” she heard Fireheart yell from somewhere behind her.
She turned around to see the tom running toward the hurt she-cat behind her. Cinderpaw felt a pang of guilt stab at her heart like the sharpest claw.
“She’s still alive,” she began softly. “But she needs to get back to camp quickly.
Cinderpaw and Fireheart carefully set Sandpaw’s body down in a nest in the Medicine cat’s den. Yellowfang started treating her wounds immediately. Cinderpaw walked outside Yellowfang’s den and to the apprentices’ den. Brackenpaw came out of the den and sat beside her. He must have heard already… she thought. He gave her comforting licks on her head.
Fireheart then walked out of Yellowfang’s den.
“I’m so sorry, Fireheart.”
Fireheart glared at her and went into the warriors’ den. She winced. That look made Cinderpaw feel like she got a claw raked across her pelt. She sighed and went into her nest and curled up. She slowly feel asleep having nothing but blank dreams which were worse than any nightmare…

This is kind of like a fan-fiction. It's what I think should have happened if Cinderpaw hadn't get hit on the thunderpath.
Also I did use some of Erin Hunter's words to start it off. If you want to see where, it is:
