Goldenshard nodded. "Yeah, hunting is slower...I guess I just don't want to take the time to do it most days," she grinned. Hunting could be fun sometimes, but often Goldenshard wanted to do something more intense and just, more fun. "I love fighting though! There's nothing better than breaking down an enemies moves and striking back before they can make their own strategy." She shivered just thinking about it. "Nothing better than a good fight!" She smiled, and then turned to Joypaw. "Okay Joypaw, I think I'm ready to learn how to fish!"

Redrose stopped as the other cats voices caught her attention. First she thought she should stay out of their conversation, but she was anxious to meet her new clanmates and finally be part of the clan. Taking a deep breath she made her paws take her towards them, hoping they would like her. The cat's voices grew louder as she walked through the breathtakingly beautiful forest. Such a lush environment, perfect for hunting mice and squirrels. She couldn't wait to show off her hunting skills. Finally Redrose could see the other cats. The tip of her feathery tail twitched as she stepped out of cover. "Hello." She managed to say, without turning and running. Anyway, the cats seemed nice enough.

Goldenshard's ears twitched as she heard a cat padding up behind them. Turning her head, she saw a silver she-cat shyly pad up to them. She must be one of the new cats in the Clan. I've never met her before. Goldenshard grinned. "Hey! I'm Goldenshard." She nodded her head to the other cats with her. "The ginger cat is Joypaw and this is Smokeheart. He's also new to the Clan. We were just showing him around, actually," she smiled. "You could join us if you liked. What is your name?"

"I'm Redrose." She said, he anxieties suddenly washed away. "And I'd love to join you." She purrs. "Nice to meet you all." Of course they would be nice like this. She couldn't wait to meet more of the clan. Warmth spread through her, and she smiled at the cats. "Where are we going?"

((Sorry guys!! I'll post now)) Thornclaw looked at the newcomers. Still not feeling very well, he slowly backed away from everyone until he had slipped into the bushes. He quickly ran away, even though he knew that they would be able to follow his scent. He arrived at another part of the river and then lied down on his left side. He stared at the sunlight dancing across its surface and the rippling of the reflected sky above. A cloud drifted by and then cast a shadow as it passed the sun. He blinked as the cloud moved and let the sunlight on the water suddenly brighten. When the afterimage left, he sighed, then rolled over onto his other side and closed his eyes.

Suddenly Thornclaw dashed away, and all Goldenshard could do was watch as her ran off. Poor Thornclaw...I hope he starts to feel better soon. He's had it rough for a long time. Trying to banish the bad thoughts away, she turned back to Redrose. "Sorry about that, Thornclaw has been having a hard time lately. It has nothing to do with you!" she grinned. "And we were going to walk along the river and explore a bit of the forest that lays next to the water. We might even get a fishing lesson!"

Redrose smiles, her eyes still lingering where Thornclaw had disapeared. She hoped Goldenshard was telling the truth. Redrose shook her head and focused on what Goldenshard was saying. "Oh, I love fishing!" Feeling better, knowing she wouldn't be made a fool of yet, Redrose relaxed. She flicked her tail, watching as a butterfly hopped from flower to flower. "This is a beautiful place." She whispers, almost mesmerized by their surroundings.

Goldenshard watched Redrose's eyes as she looked over the SoulClan territory, saying quietly how beautiful it was. The soft sigh of the trees and golden shine of the sun playing through the green leaves could really take a cat's breath away. She smiled. "Yeah, we're really lucky. SoulClan has some of the best territory you can find...the best I've ever known, for sure."
Goldenshard grinned. "You do love to fish? Great! It's hard to come by cats who actually know how to do it, and do it well..." She smiled wryly. "I'm one of those cats who can't fish. I'm more warrior than fisher, I have to say!" Looking down at the crystal blue water, she looked back to Redrose. "Hey, if you know how you could teach Smokeheart and I. We don't really know what we're doing," she laughed.

Redrose smiled at Goldenshard. "Even RiverClan's territory couldn't match this." She agrees. At the mention of fishing her eyes wander back to the cool water. "Sure. I was practically born in the water. I may not be the best teacher, but who knows." She gets up and pads over to the river's edge. When she has made sure her shadow doesn't linger over the water she turns back to Goldenshard and Smokeheart.
"Come sit next to me." She says softly. Redrose flicks the ground next to her with her tail. "The easiest way to teach is to show first." While they come over she watches the water carefully. "One of the most important thigs is to not let the fish detect you first, just like in hunting. Keep your voice low, and don't let your shadow fall over the water." She whispers.

Goldenshard grinned. Hearing that her home territory was even better than RiverClan's...that was great to hear! As Redrose agreed to teach them, Goldenshard quietly padded over and sat next to the cat on the edge of the river. She stared into the blue waters, eyes searching for a fish. As she heard Redrose's instructions, she nodded, and made sure her shadow didn't cross the reflection of the water. Even though she didn't fish, she knew that they would scare away at a moments notice.
Goldenshard then looked over to Redrose, ready to study her motions. "Okay," she whispered, "I'm ready to watch."

"Now, because you can't lean over and look directly into the water fish can be hard to spot. However their scales give them away pretty easily." As she speaks the flash of scales alerts her to a fish. Quick as lightning her paw flies into the blue water, hooks under the fish and flings it out. Redrose kills it quickly, much the same as you would kill a rodent.
"When you do see the scales you have to move quickly. Hook your paw under the fish." She shows them the action in slow motion, pretending toreach into the water and scoop out a fish. "Like this and get them out. Then you can kill them by breaking their necks. Does that make sense?" She looks hopefully at Goldenshard and Smokeheart.

Goldenshard watched as Redrose neatly hooked the fish out of the water with her paw, and left it flopping on the ground beside the river, scales glistening. As Redrose instructed her, she nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense." Well that does make sense, so hopefully I'll be able to do this. I'm not great at hunting, but I can still do it fine, so I should be able to catch fish too.
"Alright, I'm gonna give this a try." Goldenshard took a breath, and scanned the water for the shine of fish scales. After a few moments, a flash of silver caught her eye and her paw flashed out like it would if she were attacking another cat. Her paw splashed in the water, but when she drew it out, no fish flopped on the shore. "Darn!"

"That's alright, even Riverclan cats can't do it all at once. Your form was great though, you'll be catching fish left and right in no time!" She mewed encouragingly. She had always been taught other clans could never learn to fish, but Goldenshard had been sso close to catching that fish. It seems Riverclan is shot down again. Redrose smiles in spite of herself. She sits back down on the river's edge.
"Oh, I almost forgot. The water can distort the image of the fish, so it looks like its right her." She points to a rock jutting out of the water. "But it's really a little bit backwards." She moves her paw back a couple whisker lengths."

Goldenshard smiled a bit. "Well, at least I was doing something right!" Now that the fish had gotten away, Goldenshard really wanted to catch it. It was a challenge, like an enemy she needed to take down. Except of course the fish wouldn't attack her, or fight back, and it would be really delicious once she caught it...but besides that, it was exactly the same.
She listened to Redrose's advice, and nodded. "Alright, that should help. Let me try again." She closed her eyes for a moment, and concentrated hard. She looked for a flash of fish in the water, and slowly moved her paw slightly below the fish. The next time it moved, she struck out, aiming lower than before, and splashed into the water. She felt something slide across her paw, and suddenly a fish flew into the air. Eyes widening in alarm, she struck out with her other paw, trying to keep it from falling back into the water. After a few mad smacks, the fish flew off her paws and onto the bank of the river. Staring at the fish, shocked, she suddenly jumped up. "Yes!!!" She shouted.

Redrose grinned at Goldenshard. "That was great!! Congradulations on your first fish!" Redrose trots down the river a little and begins fishing herself. She watched the cool water, tense. Then a flash got her attention. She strikes the water with her paw, but whatever made the flash wasn't a fish. It was hard, and as her paw scooped it up it cut her pad.
Yelping she stumbled back from the water. The object fell on the back, and lay still. It was a flat shiny stone. It shone in the sun, brighter than any other stone she had ever seen. Her paw was bleeding, and it stung very badly. She licked it, hoping to stop the bleeding. Oh StarClan! She thought. "Goldenshard I need to get back to camp."

Goldenshard smiled, laughing. "Thanks!" As Redrose padded down the river to continue to fish, Goldenshard inspected her fish. It was fairly large, a good size, and it looked delicious. No one will believe that I caught a fish back at camp...this is great!!
A yelp sounded in the air and immediately Goldenshard's head whipped up, and she fell into a battle ready position. Once she didn't see any enemy cats, she quickly made her way to Redrose's side. She was licking her paw, dripping blood, and a shiny stone was on the bank of the river beside her. "Ow, crap Redrose! Yeah, let's get back to camp and have Sandheart look at that."

Redrose nodded, sad at having the fishing trip end so soon. "I haven't met Sandheart yet." She mews, trying to optomistic. She got to her paws slowly, having a little trouble since she couldn't use one of her paws. She kept her injured paw off the ground. Hobbling slowly she started back towards camp. "I'm sorry." She murmered to Goldenshard.
What was that thing?! She wondered. "We should tell Whisperstar about that stone. Another cat might accidentally cut themselves on it." Redrose hissed as a twig poked her pad. I hope it heals soon!

Goldenshard watched as Redrose struggled to her paws, keeping the weight off her injured paws. She padded alongside the new warrior, ready to help if Redrose lost her balance or needed help. "Hey, it's no problem," Goldenshard said as Redrose apologized. "It's not like you were trying to get yourself hurt! And Sandheart is really nice, she'll get your paw healed really quick."
As they walked to the entrance of camp, Goldenshard nodded her head. "Yes, we should tell Whisperstar. A few warriors could go and bury that stone to make sure it doesn't happen again, and maybe we could even search the river for more? I'm not sure...but Whisper will know what to do."

Redrose was comforted by Goldenshard's words. Of course Sandheart would be nice. She smiled at Goldenshard, despite the pain in her paw. "Thanks." Then she concentrated on not falling over. A few times she stumbled a bit, but soon she could see the camp entrance.
"Yes, thats a very good idea." Redrose murmered, suddenly feeling shy as they entered camp. She imagined every cat staring at her, thinking she was such a mousebrain for getting hurt like this. She looked down, following Goldenshard and trying not to show any emotions. As they reached Sandheart's den Redrose felt better. She wasn't the only cat to get hurt before. She reminded herself.
